Personally, I think this is a wonderful book to have on the shelves. It’s a curious book that takes 8 poems by major poets and has comments on each of those poems by 3 other poets and then by the writer himself. It’s an interesting way of showing the different readings/perspectives that can occur even with people who know the poetry biz well. Unfortunately, no one else in town seems to think this is so intriguing and eye-opening. I suppose this is one of those times when I have to yield to the popular distaste. Poetry analysis is not a common past-time or a spectator sport either here or in America generally. Let this one go.
