Since the Albertville library has a comprehensive volume of Roethke’s poetry, I suggest they keep this 45-page volume about him on the shelves despite abysmal circulation. I will even will make the apparently unfounded suggestion that a more comprehensive book about him be purchased and this one be let go. Let the book of criticism match the volume of poetry. Support him in equal measure. He’s a major American poet and a worthwhile poet to have on the shelves.
