This is not a book of poetry, or even poetry criticism but rather a biography of Sylvia Plath. It isn’t even a straight biography of Plath but as the jacket states “a meditation on the art of biography,” in which the author examines the various biographies of Plath. As a biography examining biographies it doubly belongs among biographies rather than poetry. Oddly, Albertville has only two books actually by Plath and neither of them are poetry. So purchasing a complete works is in order.
