This book has had a good run of circulation. However, it looks as though interest in James Russell Lowell is waning. Still, Lowell was an admired thinker and social critic, an important American in his day. His poetry is not his most important work, but he was dedicated to it and created some work of lasting significance. When this volume, which includes a “Biographical Sketch,” has come to the end of its life, I suggest replacing it with a selected works.
