Vachel Lindsay is a good match for Albertville. He felt strongly about poetry being musical. His poems have forms that support rhyme and repetition. They are intentionally song-like. Lindsay was also a very religious person and his poems often refer to God or Christ. This book received decent circulation until 14 years ago. The gradual lack of interest may be because it is worn and musty. It could stand to be replaced or rebound. However, it isn’t important for a library to have a volume of Lindsay on its shelves. If it receives no attention for another 10 years, it could simply be culled. I recommend replacing or rebinding it because it has received decent circulation and in general is poetry that would appeal to Albertville Public Library patrons.
