Alabama Poets: A Contemporary Anthology

This is a wonderful anthology that belongs on the shelves of every Alabama library. My only complaint is that there hasn’t been another collection done in 20 years. It’s certainly due. In this volume there are poets known primarily in Alabama and there are poets who have made a reputation nationally, such as Andrew Hudgins, Rodney Jones, and Sonia Sanchez. There are also poems by writers of books I’ve already reviewed here (Anne George, Charles Ghinga). I will certainly return to it for a thorough reading.
