I wish I had the time to read through this volume, but I don’t at present. I’ve provided my praise for this series and recommendations for libraries in an earlier post (https://poetrylog.wordpress.com/2010/09/01/the-best-american-poetry-2000/).The Albertville Public Library has 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992–at which point they seemed to realize purchasing it every year might not be the best policy and didn’t get another until 2000. This library is due to purchase another one and some of these older volumes can be either left on the shelves or culled. I would recommend keeping the 1989 volume indefinitely because it was the first year of the series and the 2000 because it contains a retrospective in list form provided by each editor of 20th Century poetry. The 1990, ’91 & ’92 I would let go before long (though I hate to say it–they’re too brief a snapshot in time with lots of the same poets represented in each volume to be of value in a small library) and purchase a new one every 5 years.
